Customer Reviews

This place is great. It's been on my list for a while and I finally made it in. The service was great and super helpful. I went with the machete, which was my first time trying it, and I walked away impressed. It was really good, and I think the carnitas is the way to go. There are so many other things I want to try on the menu that I'll definitely be back.

I wanted some good birria and this is where I found it. The consomme has a great flavor and is loaded with onion and cilantro. I love that both the green and red salsas actually have a good level of spice to them, especially the red. Most places have very mild salsas. The woman working the counter was super sweet and let me try some different drinks they had. Loved the food and will definitely be back.

What a terrific place! Tucked away in a strip mall near the GE plant, this little restaurant is quietly putting out some of he best food I've ever had. I came to try the machete, having seen pictures in a local foodie group, and it lived up to the hype. It's a huge soft flatbread folded over a filling of cheese and onion and your choice of meats (I chose delicious pastor pork). Every bite was full of flavor, which was even better with a generous dab of their wonderful smoky hot red sauce. The service was quick and friendly and it's plain the server is passionate about the food. He explained that the menu is consciously designed to offer authentic Mexican regional dishes and not just the same dozen things every Tex-Mex joint offers. The machete and a delicious jarrito and tip came to $25, which is more than I usually spend for lunch, but I ended up with enough leftovers for a whole other meal, so I think that's quite fair for the quantity and quality of food on offer. They do have a normal lunch menu of more modest proportions, and I'll probably investigate that next time. I'll definitely be back for Taco Tuesday!

We celebrated the restaurants 2nd year anniversary and we were not disappointed! We even won a lucky prize!! It's worth mentioning that the food is highly underrated. Plus the service is exceptional. Felt like they became my family and I was at my own uncles restaurant. That's how great the atmosphere is. Give them a try!!

If you're an OG from Okolona or Highview, then you know this to be the same location of Villa Romano from way back. This is is a small and nice Mexican restaurant with a great menu variety. The menu is in Spanish but understandable with basic information. We had great and friendly service. Like in many countries, they don't serve tap water. They do serve complimentary warm chips and a tasty bean dip. We ordered the guacamole and it was very fresh and chunky. It was gone before I could snap a photo. My husband got the huarache - big enough to share. My poblano relleno was fantastic. It came with rice and beans and the batter was eggy and good. It also was served with HANDMADE tortillas. Such an unexpected treat! There is a very spicy green salsa and a medium smoky red salsa that they also bring to the table. I can't wait to go back and try something else.

Some of the best authentic Mexican street food I've had in KY. Not just your typical beef, pork, and chicken and the staff were wonderful taking the time to explain the menu. The pineapple water and rice water were also great!
